The Daley Center in Chicago, built in 1965 used Cor-Ten steel (which strengthens over time), allowing the bays to be wider, giving it a greater horizontality.
Chicago, at least partly the genesis of the prairie style in architecture, is an oblique association: The person looking out the window is looking out to a horizon.
